In Fidelity Rehearsal Diary: Week 3

Posted on August 1st, 2016

Yesterday all the team arrived to Edinburgh – what a city! This is my first Edinburgh Festival and I am very excited. All the pieces of the jigsaw are coming together.  In the last week we have been receiving a lot of parcels and pieces of the set and It almost felt like Christmas Eve. Last night I was finishing some pieces of the set in my bedroom. It involved some glitter. This morning when I woke up my bed looked like I have slept with Tinker Bell!

The process so far has been really exciting. My conversation with the director Steven about the design for In Fidelity started with a video clip from Black Eyed Peas, some of you might know. “Don’t Phunk With My Heart”. That was the first thing that came to my mind after reading the script. From here onwards we started to exchange images, videoclips, videos from Spanish and British television programs and TED Talks.

In rehearsals lots of the dates were between members of the company which was the only way we had to try things. Last week I had my first date and since then the piece has developed so much. The experience of being on stage was unusual. Instead of being truthful I played a role – I chose to be a mixture between Snow White’s Step Mother and the feminine version of Blue Beard.

If you are lucky enough to be part of the show I would definitely recommend not to play any roles, ideally you are really looking for love. This is what makes this show exciting. If you are really looking for love, Rob will be able to help you and guide you to the whole show, and who knows…. you might find your other half. It is the unexpected, the potential of something really happening what makes this show exciting. Also the shyness at the beginning and some flushing cheek bones and finding a real connection with the other person… That is the charm of a first date.

If this is the way I am losing my “Edinburgh Festival Virginity” It definitely looks promising!
